NASA’s Orion ETF-1 Launch

Indianapolis, Indiana – December 8, 2014

We mean it when we say our parts go into space and beyond!

On Friday, December 5, 2014, a spacecraft built for humans left the domain of low-Earth orbit for the first time in 42 years. NASA’s maiden Orion flight soared 3,604 miles above Earth and returned safely approximately four hours later, having accomplished a flawless test flight as part of NASA’s journey to Mars.

This achievement is not only critical for the United States and next generation space exploration, it exemplifies Major Tool & Machine’s contribution to its success. From the propulsion rocket motors to the crew return capsule, Major Tool & Machine craftsmen manufactured nearly two dozen parts from the bottom to the top!
