Major Tool & Machine is proud to partner with Raytheon for the successful completion of the critical CJR Program.
In July 2005, Major Tool and Machine began work as a subcontractor to Raytheon to fabricate the X-Band Radar Array structure for the Cobra Judy Replacement Program. MTM was responsible for all machining, fabricating, assembly, and mechanical testing of the Radar Array Structure.
This program was successfully completed in early 2007 and shipped to Raytheon for electronics subsystem integration. The Cobra Judy Replacement Program is another example of Major Tool & Machine’s ability to successfully manufacture and deliver mission critical hardware for United States Defense programs. We are extremely proud to work with Raytheon on such an important project.
A recent article dated May 1, 2014 from the Department of the Navy was published regarding the program completion:
From Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems public affairs:.
WASHINGTON (NNS) – The Cobra Judy Replacement program successfully achieved initial operational capability, March 31, providing the United States high-quality, dual-band radar data in support of ballistic missile treaty verification worldwide.
The U.S. Air Force now assumes operations and sustainment responsibilities for the vessel.
“We’re very excited to achieve initial operational capability,” said Capt. Roderick Wester, Cobra Judy Replacement major program manager, Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO, IWS). “This critical milestone is a testament to years of dedicated work from the government-industry team. Cobra Judy Replacement, with its advanced radar suite, will provide enhanced operational capabilities for decades.”
The program includes USNS Howard O. Lorenzen (T-AMG 25) and its mission equipment, which consists of integrated S- and X-band active electronically scanned radar antennas. Built by VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the ship will replace the USNS Observation Island (T-AGM 23).
PEO IWS, and affiliated program executive office of the Naval Sea Systems Command, manages surface ship and submarine combat technologies and systems and coordinates Navy enterprise solutions across ship platforms.
